Saturday 10am Barn Classroom: Plant Magic: Folklore of the Green World with Sara Stewart Martinelli
Plants have long been woven into folk magic, ritual, and everyday spellcraft across cultures. In this class, we will explore the folklore, symbolism, and magical uses of plants as they have been practiced historically and carried forward through tradition.
We will look at how herbs, flowers, trees, and seeds have been used in charms, protection work, love magic, healing spells, and seasonal rituals. Participants will learn how plants are chosen for spellwork based on their traditional associations, planetary and elemental correspondences, and stories passed down through folk practices.
This class focuses on practical application. We will discuss how to work with plants respectfully in spellcraft, how to prepare and use them in simple spells, and how intention, timing, and relationship shape magical outcomes. Topics may include sachets, candle magic, teas, baths, talismans, and household charms.
Participants will also have the opportunity to create a plant based protection talisman for the home, using traditional methods and symbolic plant allies discussed in class.
This class is open to all levels and is ideal for those curious about folk magic, herbal lore, and incorporating plant centered spellwork into personal practice.
